Our internship program accepts students pursuing master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or Social Work.
Supervision is typically offered virtually, but depending on your university program requirements, we may arrange for on-site supervision. Many of our intern supervisors work virtually and thus provide weekly supervision sessions virtually. An intern may inquire about in-person shadowing with the internship department.
On average, interns remain with our internship program until graduation. An intern can request an extension to their originally contracted internship and upon approval may remain with Safe Harbor for multiple semesters.
Upon graduation from their degree program, interns have the opportunity to interview for a fellowship position and continue serving Safe Harbor clients while they await their licensure approval. This position leads to an employment position with Safe Harbor.
Applications are reviewed upon submission. Interviews are held 2-3 months prior to the semester applied for.
Interns can work a hybrid schedule. Many clients are seeking in-person sessions. We ask interns to provide a set of hours they can offer in-person services in addition to virtual.
